Attendance Policy Second Baptist Christian Preparatory School's attendance policy is in alignment with the South Carolina attendance policy. School will be in session for 180 days. Students must be present 170 days in order to receive credit. Any circumstances beyond that must be brought to the attention of the School Board or its designee. Back to Top
Communication Folders SBC Prep want to keep you informed throughout the school year. Your child should be bringing home a communication folder. Please check your child's book bag for this folder. Please contact your child's teacher if you are not receiving communication regularly. Back to Top
Disciplinary Policy As a parent/guardian, we ask that you read these rules aloud with your child. Make sure that he/she understands what type of behavior will be expected. The rules and regulations of the school are as follows: *You must respect all staff, volunteers, and adults on the school grounds. *You must respect fellow students. *Obscene language will not be tolerated. *Lying, stealing, and name-calling will not be tolerated. *All trash must be properly disposed. *Ask permission to be excused to the bathroom. *Use "indoor" voices when inside the building. *No running and horse playing inside the building. *You must do your best to keep the school a clean and safe place. Failure to follow the rules will result in the following actions: 1st Verbal Warning - Everyone gets a chance to make a mistake. 2nd Verbal Warning - Time out for 5 to 15 minutes 3rd Verbal Warning - Written up and notify parent 4th Verbal Warning - Written up and notify parent 5th Verbal Warning - Suspension from the program for 1 to 3 days depending on the severity of the incident
Suspension Depending on the severity, a child may be suspended but may return when suspension is over under certain conditions. A letter of suspension will be sent home with the child or mailed. This form must be signed by the parent/guardian and brought back to the director in order for the child to return to the school. A parental conference must be held in order for the child to return. The director reserves the right to determine the length of suspension. NO REFUNDS OF ANY KIND WILL BE GIVEN. Back to Top
Dress Code Students are required to wear uniforms during the school year. The uniform consist of dark blue bottoms (pants, skirts, jumpers, shorts, skorts) and white tops. Students may dress in other clothing on Fridays unless we are going on a field trip. Students not in uniforms will not be allowed to attend class. Students should wear their uniforms on all field trips unless instructed otherwise. Shoes are left up to the discretion of the parents. Some shoes (clogs, slides) are inappropriate for outside activities. Back to Top
Emergency School Closings When inclement weather occurs, the school board will decide if school will be in session. This decision should be broadcast by 6:30 a.m. on CSRA radio and television stations. Normally, we will follow the public school system's decisions to close or delay the opening of school because of the weather. Back to Top
FIRE DRILLS State law requires that a fire drill be conducted once per month during the school year. The signal to evacuate the building will be a continuous sounding of the fire horn. Back to Top
Field Trips Educational field trips are planned to provide experiences correlated with subjects studied in the classroom. Students are required to have written permission from a parent or guardian prior to going on field trips. The school has the privilege to deny any student from attending a field trip because of discipline problems. All trips will be chaperoned by school personnel who may be assisted by parent volunteers. Grading System Student performance should be evaluated on grade-level standards, academic plans, tests and other available methods. Letter grades shall be used on report cards, transcripts, and permanent records. Immunizations Students in all grade levels must have an official South Carolina Certificate of Immunization on file in the school office. If the immunization certificate is conditional (all shots not completed), it is the responsibility of the parent to see that the student receives the immunizations for a completed certificate of immunization. All students new to the school must present a copy of their birth certificate and social security card which will be kept in their cumulative folder. Back to Top
Parent Teacher Organization We encourage all parents and guardians to become actively involved in the Parent Teacher Organization. The PTO meets once a month with an organizational meeting on the third Monday of every month at 6 p.m. Please support the homeschool partnership by keeping close contact with the school, supporting the PTO, and volunteering whenever you have time. Uniform Re-sales As part of a fund raiser for the PTO, parents have donated uniforms their children have outgrown to the PTO for resale. Uniforms are in the office complex for sale. There are also some School T-shirts for sale. Please check out the resale department and help support the PTO. Back to Top
Volunteers Each year, parents and community residents assist in the instructional and operational programs not only by volunteering their time to work in the school, but also by sharing their special areas of expertise in the classroom. Please contact the school if you are interested in serving as a volunteer either regularly or on special occasions. We welcome your interest and support. Back to Top
